Menopause, Movement (aka Pilates), and a whole lot of gratitude

A Heartfelt Thank You: Movement for a Cause

This past weekend, I had the honor of hosting a charity-based Pilates class in memory of Don Wolf—and wow, you showed up. Whether you were on the mat, watching from afar, or simply donating with your heart, thank you. Together, we raised $1,500 for the Siteman Cancer Center.

Here’s the best part: I’ve decided that once I upload the class replay to my on-demand Pilates platform, all future proceeds from that video will also go to the Siteman Cancer Center. So, if you missed the live session, don’t worry—you can still do some good and get your movement in.

Let’s Talk Menopause: Yes, Really

Three generations of women embracing the journey of menopause, highlighting strength, support, and the enduring connections across ages.

Now let’s talk about the “M” word that seems to be buzzing in every conversation lately: menopause.

Why the spotlight? Well, nearly 50% of the global population are women, and of the 4 billion+ women on this planet, around 1 billion are either approaching or experiencing menopause. So whether you’re going through it, coming out the other side, or supporting someone who is—this is your invitation to learn, connect, and thrive.

What Is Menopause, Really?

In short: if you’re lucky enough to reach your 40s and beyond, menopause is coming for you. Period. (Pun very much intended.)

And no, it’s not just about hot flashes. Menopause impacts muscle mass, bone density, metabolism, sleep, mood, and memory. It’s a whole-body shift that deserves more than a shrug and a fan.

That's me trying to chill out after one of those lovely hot flashes!

Why Pilates Is a Game-Changer for Menopause Support

Over the coming weeks, I’ll be diving into how Pilates can support you through menopause—not just physically, but emotionally and mentally too. I’ll also share nutrition tips to help you thrive through the transition, because let’s face it: your body deserves the same grace and care you give everyone else.

Two women, Amanda Curd and Claire O'Connor, are featured in a webinar ad titled "Strength, Resilience & Success" focused on Pilates and growth.
Women go through enough stress without the hormone fluctuations of menopause.

I recently did a LinkedIn Live with powerhouse business coach Claire O’Connor, where we explored the realities of menopause for working women who are managing careers, families, and all the invisible responsibilities in between. Keep an eye on your inbox (and LinkedIn!) for the replay and a special offer from both of us.

My 3 Anchors to Life (Especially During Menopause)

Here’s what I teach and live by—whether you’re sweating through a hot flash, staring at the ceiling at 3 a.m., or wondering why your joints feel like they aged ten years overnight. These anchors aren’t just for my clients—they’re for me, too.

1. Strength – Because muscle loss is real, and Pilates helps you build it back smart and safely. Maintaining muscle supports your metabolism, joints, and mood—not to mention your confidence in tank tops.

2. Balance – Physical balance, emotional resilience, and learning how to center yourself through the chaos (a.k.a. when your hormones hijack your to-do list).

3. Alignment – Not just in your spine, but in how you live: aligning your values, energy, and lifestyle with what your body actually needs during this season of life.

👉 I use these three anchors daily to help me manage menopause symptoms. Whether it’s through mindful movement, a grounding breath practice, or simply noticing when I’m out of alignment and gently coming back—these aren’t just concepts. They’re tools I reach for, again and again.

And I want you to have access to them, too.

Exploring a new sense of community

I did something new this weekend: I went to a cacao ceremony.

Honestly, I needed a reset. The past few weeks have been tough, and I found myself needing something grounding. Vulnerability isn’t always easy for me. But after Don’s passing, I realized that putting on the brave face 24/7 was getting heavy.

Letting myself soften—really soften—actually made me feel stronger.

“Vulnerability is not winning or losing; it’s having the courage to show up and be seen when we have no control over the outcome.” – Brené Brown

This applies deeply to Pilates, too. Trusting someone to guide your body through movement—especially when you’re not feeling your best—takes courage. And if you’re navigating menopause, grief, stress, or transition, you don’t have to carry it alone.

We’re stronger together. But we can only support each other when we let the walls down a bit and open ourselves to being seen.

Final Thoughts

So whether you’re looking for Pilates for menopause, curious about nervous system regulation through movement, or just want to explore how vulnerability can be your superpower—know this:

You are not alone.

You are not broken.

And there is a way to move forward—with strength, balance, and grace.

Yours in longevity, empowerment, and thriving,

Amanda Curd
